MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES

Music is an integrated part of our curriculum. Music is a gift from God and the proper use of music can bring glory to God and enjoyment to mankind. Every grade level at DCES receives one period of classroom music per week and one period of choir with a music instructor. Opportunities to expand a child's musical horizon are offered to children as follows:

Elementary Beginning Band is offered during the school day to fourth and fifth grade students, with minimal or no experience, who wish to learn to play a musical instrument.  Band instruments offered include: flute, clarinet, oboe, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone horn, electric bass, guitar, and percussion.

Intermediate Band is offered to fourth and fifth grade students who have had at least one year instrumental experience. The students will increase their skills to a higher level of proficiency in a group setting.

Beginning, 2nd Year, and Intermediate Strings are offered to students in grades 2-5. Instruments in the string family that are offered include violin, viola, cello, and string bass. 

Private Lessons are also available on a separate contract between parent and teacher.
