Music is an important part of
our curriculum as a Christian School. Music is a gift from God
and the proper use of music can bring glory to God and enjoyment
to mankind.
Every grade level at Desert Christian
Elementary receives one period of classroom music per week and
one period of choir with a music instructor. Opportunities to
expand a child's musical horizon are offered to children as follows:
Elementary Beginning Band*
is offered during the school day to youth fifth grade
students, with minimal or no experience, who wish to learn
to play a band instrument. The instruments offered
are flute, clarinet, oboe, saxaphone, trumpet, trombone,
french horn, baritone, tuba and percussion.
Intermediate Band* is offered
two times a week during school to those who have one year
of previous instrumental experience.
Beginning String Class* (Violin,
Viola, Cello) is offered during the day twice a week to
2nd - 5th grade students who wish to learn to play an
orchestra instrument.
2nd Year and Intermediate String
Classes* are offered one time a week during ther
school day to those who have one year or more of previous
string experience.
Private Lessons in flute, clarinet,
French horn, trumpet, violin, viola and piano are also
available on a separate contract between parent and teacher
with a fee included.
*These classes take place during the school
day. Students are taken out of their regular class to be
able to participate.
